Michael is the past president for TEC. He has been a registered nurse for 24 years, 23 years of that working in Emergency/Trauma Departments. He graduated with a diploma from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Youngstown, Ohio and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Youngstown State University. He is currently working per diem at a local trauma center.

Laura has spent the past 3 years at Marin General Hospital working in Emergency Medicine, transitioning from bedside nursing to trauma process improvement in 2018. She has been a nurse since 2012, starting in a new graduate residency program at St. Joseph’s Hospital Orange County in the Emergency Department. Her first experience at a trauma center was while she was working at Stanford Healthcare in 2014. 

Meaghan Carroll

Meaghan is the Trauma Program Manager at Marin General Hospital. She is a graduate from University of San Francisco (USF) Nursing Program with her BSN and Masters Degree in Clinical Nurse Leadership.  Meaghan has also served as an adjunct faculty member for USF mentoring students during their clinical rotation as well as running simulations labs.  Currently, Meaghan also works as a per diem nurse at a bay area hospital in the Emergency Department. 

James Bruhn

James Bruhn has been in healthcare for over 25 years.  He has worked as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic and Paramedic in two metropolitan areas, as an Emergency Nurse at Level I and III trauma centers, and as a Critical Care Transport Nurse. James has over 25 years of military service with deployments to the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan and also been an Emergency Nurse mentor with UCSF’s Global Health Sciences program in East Africa. James receiving his Associate Degree in Nursing from Chabot College in Hayward, California in 2003.  He the received his Bachelors from CSU East Bay in 2008.  In 2014 he graduated from UC San Francisco, earning his Master of Science degree in Nursing, becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Critical Care and Trauma.

Jo was one of the original group of trauma nurses who founded TEC. Her years of critical care include staff and management positions in ICU, critical care trauma education, neurosurgical CNS, and Neuro trauma consultant position. She is currently a critical care educator, non-salary Assistant Clinical Professor for UCSF School of Nursing and speaker for Genentech.
